Baptisms
Baptisms (Christening)
Baptism is one of the central acts of the Christian Church. It is
the act by which the person being baptised declares their commitment
to Christ and their intention to follow him all the days of their life
in a public way.
In the service the person also declares their intention to be active within the life of the church.
Baptism is the beginning of the relationship with Christ and what
follows needs to enable the baptised person to grow in the faith. This
is true for those who come for baptism at a later stage in their life
as well as those who are baptised as infants. This is by taking part
in worship and learning to pray. It is as this happened that the child
learns to know God as their heavenly Father. Eventually it is hoped
that the children will want to make the commitment for themselves in
CONFIRMATION.
